A New York Yankee has hit free agency, and you know what that means: time to grow a beard.

Former Yankee Greg Bird has not been a free agent for very long, but wasted little time in growing a long, mangy set of facial hair, along with some serious lettuce up top. He looks unrecognizable from his time on the Yankees, and also looks like he's seen some things.

On the left, you have your typical New York Yankees player. Clean-shaven and ready to play ball. On the right, you have someone who looks like they starred on Lost or was the super villain in a Marvel movie. How quickly times can change.

Bird still remains a free agent after being released by the Yankees back in November, but the question about whether or not he could still do a decent job in the MLB remains.

Only 27 years old, Bird could still have plenty of years ahead of him, but injury concerns, combined with recent performances, aren't promising.

Bird only appeared in 10 games in all of 2019 and batted a poor .171. Hopefully 2020 is a better year for Bird, and he signs with a decent team, because he was one of the game's more promising players in his early years.

Let's hope he can return to that soon, new hair or not.
