FOX Debuts New Scoreboard Graphic During Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl Matchup

There's no better time to debut a new graphic than the Super Bowl. Everybody's watching, and it's sure to spur some immediate feedback.
That's why FOX chose to bust out their new scoreboard display for the Super Bowl LIV showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
It's a major departure from the full-screen bottom line that they've rolled with in recent years. It's fairly minimalist and leaves a lot more of the field open to the viewer. The same goes for the down and distance marker, which now has no background to make it stand out from the turf.
It also seems like a compressed version of the scoreboard used by the Monday Night Football broadcast. The logo display and fonts both follow a similar style to that of ESPN's football coverage.
The change is certainly intriguing. Instead of the aforementioned bottom line or upper-left corner box score, it's simplistic and centrally located at the bottom of the screen.
Though it might not be the flashiest of changes, it's clean enough and it gets the job done.
