Joe Buck and Troy Aikman Will Call Super Bowl LIV Between Chiefs and 49ers
By Scott Rogust

This year's edition of the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers has the potential of being the most exciting matchup in recent memory given how evenly the two teams are matched. However, some NFL fans won't be too happy with who's calling the game.
Super Bowl LIV will be carried on US television on Fox, which means No. 1 booth crew Joe Buck and Troy Aikman calling the big game.

While the Buck-Aikman duo is a mixed bag in terms of overall public reception, Kansas City fans in particular are not going to be overjoyed with this confirmation.
Earlier this season, Aikman made some critical comments toward Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Twitter -- when the hard numbers revealed in September that Mahomes had thrown 36% of Aikman's career touchdowns in 8% of the games; Aikman replied by tweeting, "talk to me when he has 33% of my Super Bowl titles."

Well, then.
Mahomes will need one ring to reach a third of Aikman's stash. But in the meantime, the potential for awkwardness will be very real.
Especially if Pat ends up winning Super Bowl MVP, a possibility for which he's currently a betting favorite.
As for Buck, he received backlash from Kansas City Royals fans in 2014 for his constant praise of then-San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner during that year's World Series. (Granted, Bumgarner was near unstoppable that postseason, so it was hard not to marvel at his excellence.)

Buck's bloodline does resonate with Chiefs fans in a very special way, however. The last time the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl was 50 years ago, and Joe's father, Jack, called the team's 23-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Great note by Jim Nantz. Jack Buck called the last Chiefs Superbowl on CBS 50 years ago. Joe Buck will call the Chiefs in SB54 in 2 weeks.

Who knew that both Buck and Aikman would had so many connections to Kansas City? It's only fitting that both will be on hand to call the biggest game of the sporting calendar.
