Francisco Lindor Clams up When Asked About Future in Cleveland
By Ian Anderson
After losing basketball superstar LeBron James a couple years ago and the Browns horrific start to the 2019 NFL season, the city of Cleveland can't bare another heartbreak, can it?
When out and about in New York City, superstar Cleveland Indians' shortstop Francisco Lindor was questioned about his baseball future in The Land and couldn't give a definitive response.
Lindor was happy to answer every question, except the one regarding whether or not he would be staying in Cleveland past when he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2022.
Turning 26 years old this coming Thursday, Lindor still remains relatively young for baseball standards and is due a massive payday given his production on the field.
The shortstop is projected to have the fourth-highest fWAR out of all position players next season, fresh off of winning his second Gold Glove award in four years while also posting a batting average of .284, good enough for 23rd and 45th in the American League and MLB respectively.
Whether he is in Cleveland in the next couple of years remains a question, but make no mistake, wherever Lindor is playing baseball he will be given a contract worthy of his talents.
