Freddie Freeman was clearly not himself for the Atlanta Braves at the end of the 2019 season. It was known he was dealing with elbow pain, but the extent to how bad he was feeling was just revealed.

Freeman was apparently taking two painkillers before every game at the end of the year, according to a story from The Athletic. The scary thing is he couldn't take them too close to a game because it would mess with his vision.

This is a lot to go through to get on the field when he was not able to play like his normal self anyway. Some blame in this situation goes to Freeman, but it is also on the team and medical staff.

Freeman is now dealing with elbow issues again in Spring Training. The team should do its best to ease Freeman back into action and avoid another scary situation where he is taking so many painkillers it affects his vision. That is dangerous for any individual, and is obviously a hazard for someone staring down 95 mph pitches at the plate.
