Freddie Freeman's Home Run off Jacob deGrom Notched Yet Another Impressive Milestone
By Max Scoli
Yesterday, Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman hit a solo shot off of 2018 Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom in the ninth inning on Tuesday for his 20th home run of the year, making this the seventh season that Freeman has reached the 20-homer threshold in Atlanta.
As a result of his stellar play, Freeman is hitting his way into the Braves' history books. Earlier in June, he became the only the sixth player in franchise history with 200 home runs and 300 doubles, and the three-time MLB All-Star is far from through.
He has been on fire in his last seven games, hitting .367 with 12 RBI, bringing his season average up to .313 while raising his RBI total to 53.
Outside of his accomplishments for his bat, Freeman also was named a Gold Glove recipient and the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.
It comes as no surprise that Freeman achieved this feat against the New York Mets, an organization he has completely torched in the past.
When it's all said and done, Freddie Freeman will likely go down as one of the best Braves to ever play for the city of Atlanta, and this season is a testament to the incredible things he's capable of producing at the plate.
