3 Free Agents the Cavaliers Should Target This Offseason

Before the 2019-2020 NBA Season was put on hold, the Cleveland Cavaliers had substantially shaken up their team's outlook. Just days after firing head coach John Beilein, they acquired former All-Star center Andre Drummond at the trade deadline.

With so much of their cap space now tied to Drummond (assuming he exercises his massive $28.75 million player option), the Cavs won't have too much money to work with when the offseason rolls around.

These three players are affordable for Cleveland, and could help the young team continue to grow next year.

3. Jeff Teague

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a glut of young guards, namely Colin Sexton, Darius Garland, and Kevin Porter Jr. Although each receives substantial minutes at the point guard spot, especially Sexton, none of them have surpassed four assists per game this year. Teague, a veteran point guard, could help teach the Cavs' youth about NBA playmaking.

2. Denzel Valentine

Selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, Denzel Valentine has failed to carve out the role that many fans hoped he'd have. Valentine could be a restricted free agent this offseason if the Bulls choose to extend a $4.7 million qualifying offer to him, but they're unlikely to pay that much for a backup wing, which means Cleveland could easily find themselves making an offer to him without any obstacles.

1. Andre Roberson

He may not be the flashiest name, but Andre Roberson is one of the toughest defenders in the NBA. Roberson will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and his stock is low as he recovers from a severe knee injury dating back to 2018. Whether or not Roberson will be the same player remains to be seen, but he should be cheap to sign and could offer huge upside for a Cleveland team in need of perimeter defense.
