VIDEO: Skip Bayless Claims Julian Edelman is on a Path Toward the Hall of Fame
By Andy Loughmiller
The Julian Edelman Hall of Fame discussion was a popular topic back in February after he was named MVP of Super Bowl LIII. Now, FS1's Skip Bayless is once again in making a strong argument on behalf of Edelman's legacy-- he thinks he may be bound for Canton one day.
While Edelman's regular season statistics aren't remarkably impressive by any means, his postseason numbers speak for themselves. He is No. 2 all-time in playoff catches and receiving yards behind only the great Jerry Rice.
"Hes played in 18 postseason games, and Jerry played 29," Bayless said on "Undisputed" Thursday. "That's highly impressive to me."
The "is Julian Edelman a Hall of Famer?" debate has resurfaced due to Rice's comment that Edelman has the best footwork in the NFL. That's a pretty excellent vote of confidence.
Unsurprisingly, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, the most obvious first-ballot Hall of Famer in the history of sports, agrees with Bayless that Edelman should absolutely be in the Hall conversation.
Are the 33-year old slot receiver's current NFL accomplishments enough to get him a spot in Canton right here, right now? Probably not. However, that isn't the argument here.
The reigning Super Bowl MVP has consistently been the best part of New England's offense all season long. Although he is getting up there in age, if he can play at this level for a few more seasons, he'll have his case to make for a custom-made bust.
