Gavin Lux is Absolutely Dominating the Minors and Deserves to be Promoted
By Jerry Trotta
The Los Angeles Dodgers' overall roster is arguably the richest in all of baseball. And what makes star-studded list of names all the more special is that it oft features products from the club's own farm system: Clayton Kershaw, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Walker Buehler, and Corey Seager are all former farmhands.
To nobody's surprise, the organization has another starlet who is absolutely shredding in the minors and he deserves a promotion to the show.
Since getting promoted to Triple-A, infielder Gavin Lux boasts a remarkable .483/.558/.944 slash line. Those numbers equate to an astounding 1.502 OPS. Did we mention that the youngster has also belted eight home runs across his longer-than-expected stint?
What more does the Indiana Trail High School product have to do to warrant a call-up? In our eyes he's done everything possible...and a little bit more if we're being completely honest.
Lux is ready for the big time and it would behoove the Dodgers to get his feet wet in the big leagues as they push for baseball's best record in order to clinch home field advantage throughout the postseason.
The Wisconsin native could easily transform into Dave Roberts' everyday second baseman (or shortstop given Seager's ever-questionable health). If not, the club acquires a TREMENDOUS asset off the bench -- a dynamic that is invaluable once September and October roll around.
It's quite simply a win-win scenario for the Dodgers.
