Georgia Fans Start Petition to Fire OC James Coley
By Parker White
College football fans are some of the more passionate in all of sports. But that doesn't mean they don't overreact a little when their team loses, especially when a team with playoff aspirations loses to an unranked opponent.
The No. 3-ranked Georgia Bulldogs lost in double-overtime to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday, making it extremely tough for them to end up in the College Football Playoff. Because of that, Georgia fans have already started a petition to oust Bulldogs offensive coordinator James Coley.
Here's the description of said petition:
“UGA Offensive Coordinator James Coley single-handedly made us lose against South Carolina at home. He made our team a national embarrassment and that is unforgivable. He has no right to be an FBS coach, let alone a UGA coach. He must be out of Athens ASAP! Please sign, and tell every UGA and CFB fan to sign as well so that justice can be served! #FireColey.”
Georgia had four turnovers on Saturday and went 9-for-18 on third down. It doesn't matter that the offense had 468 yards of total offense, Bulldog fans don't want to see Coley on the sidelines again, even though this is just his first year as the OC.
While it's unlikely that Kirby Smart will act on this petition, is does give him an idea of precisely where Georgia fans are placing the blame.
