Georgia RB D'Andre Swift to Skip Senior Season and Enter NFL Draft
By Mark Powell
While leaving school for the professional ranks is tough for most amateur athletes, the running back position is a bit different.
The window for appropriate compensation is much smaller for running backs these days than most other positions in the NFL. Due to that short shelf life, it's become more common for RBs to enter the NFL after their junior year, tabling the possibility of a college degree for an immediate financial output.
D'Andre Swift is no exception. With a likely first or second-round NFL Draft grade, the UGA back is taking his talents to the next level.
Swift was a beast for the Bulldogs offense this season, marking a major loss for Kirby Smart and Co. The Philly native ran for 1,218 yards and seven scores last year in a crowded backfield.
Thankfully for Smart and the Dawgs, they can lean on some of that experience behind Swift, with the likes of James Cook and Zamir White receiving important carries at times this season.
With RBU set to add another potential All-Pro departure to their ranks in Swift, replacing his services will be tough, yet business as usual in Athens.
