Giants Coach Pat Shurmur Cancels Weekly Mike Francesa Appearance After Awkward Interview
By Adam Weinrib
If you were hoping to tune into Mike Francesa's show weekly for the remainder of the season just to hear the New York radio personality lambast Pat Shurmur on the air to his "face," then we have some rough news for you.
Shurmur will surely be verbally lit up every Monday from here on out, but he won't be on the air to hear it.
Bucking tradition, the Giants' head man has cancelled his weekly appearance on Francesa's show, coincidentally, or not, just a few days after a rough final go at embracing debate.
Looks like Shurm doesn't want to get into any back-and-forth after straying away from the likely desired position of ownership, and removing Eli Manning as the team's starter just two games into the campaign.
Manning himself, though, ended his relationship with Francesa's show back in April, so it appears neither side of this QB battle cares much for his theatrics these days.
In case you missed Shurmur's final appearance on the show, it was one for the ages. New York's beloved coach stressed that the Giants needed to work on getting better at...scoring points and preventing points, and Big Mike didn't let that stand.
Unfortunately, the most compelling episode yet of this battle was also the finale, unbeknownst to us.
