Giants' Evan Longoria Hits IL With Plantar Fasciitis Just After Getting Hot
By Sean Facey

Evan Longoria could not have been sent to the Injured List at a worse time.
The San Francisco Giants third baseman will have to sit on the sidelines with plantar fasciitis just after hitting a groove at the dish, among his first during his time by the bay.

He was removed from Sunday's game against the Brewers after starting 1-for-2 with a strikeout.
The 12-year MLB veteran had just found his stride after a wildly disappointing offensive campaign in 2019. He was slashing .400/.471/1.067 in nine games since the start of July, slugging six home runs while totaling 12 runs batted in.
It's a major stroke of bad luck. Longoria has struggled to find success at the plate since he was dealt to the Giants prior to the 2018 season, managing just a .720 OPS in 208 games out by the Bay.

Now he has to put one of his few offensive outbursts with the Giants on hold as he deals with an unfortunate injury.
Hopefully he manages to recover quickly so he can get back to game action and continue his breakthrough at the plate.
