Giants Now Aiming to Interview Jason Garrett for Offensive Coordinator Job Under Joe Judge
By Michael Luciano
Jason Garrett might have gotten the boot in Dallas, but that doesn't mean he won't be on an NFL sideline in 2020.
After the Giants surprised everyone by hiring New England Patriots special teams and wide receivers coach Joe Judge as their next head coach, the Giants further took the masses aback by requesting an interview with Garrett for their offensive coordinator job.
Coaching the offense would be a nice return to form for Garrett. After getting his start in coaching as a quarterbacks coach in Miami, Garrett was the offensive coordinator for Tony Romo's formative years from 2007 to 2010 in Dallas. He was promoted to head coach in 2011, going 88-70 in charge.
Garrett helped Romo throw for 99 touchdowns and 49 interceptions under his watch as OC, which shows that he knows his way around a quarterback, but that likely won't be enough to sate the appetite of Giants fans, who scorned Garrett relentlessly over the last decade.
The future of Daniel Jones could be placed almost solely in the arms of Jason Garrett. That sentence is probably not what Giants fans were hoping to read this afternoon.
