Giants James Bradberry Deal Makes Byron Jones' Cowboys Return Even More Unlikely
By Mark Powell
The Dallas Cowboys look unlikely to bring back Byron Jones as things currently stand, but at the very least they can cross one of their NFC East rivals off the list of his potential destinations.
Facing Jones -- inarguably the best cornerback on the market -- twice per season would be a disaster for the Cowboys. Dallas has enough to worry about right now, to say the least.
Late on Monday, the Giants signed CB James Bradberry to a loaded deal.
While Jones might not leave for an NFC East team (Dallas fans can hope), it does speak to the simple fact that the Cowboys cannot afford him while also locking up Amari Cooper and (eventually) Dak Prescott after franchise tagging him Monday morning.
Consider Jones even a moderate upgrade over Bradberry, which is an understatement in itself, and it's clear the demand at the position will only help the 27-year-old's case in contract negotiations.
Jones and Ohio State's Jeff Okudah are arguably the two best defensive backs available this offseason. The former has every right to hold out for as much money as possible, even if that's not in Dallas.
