By Scott Rogust

The Boston Red Sox had a lot to be excited about on Tuesday night. Yes, they're on fading out of the playoff picture, but they got to witness some history. Those in attendance at Fenway Park got to witness a Yastrzemski stand in the batter's box for the first time in 36 years. We're talking about Red Sox legend Carl Yastrzemski's grandson, Mike, of the San Francisco Giants. Once the youngster stepped up to the plate, he received a strong ovation from the Boston faithful.

It was a great moment for the Giants rookie, as his grandfather was in the stands to watch his Fenway debut. Earlier on in the day, Carl and Mike walked on the field together to chat about the big day, which was captured with a tremendous photo.

While Mike Yastrzemski's first plate appearance in Boston will show a strikeout in the stat sheet, he will never forget the ovation he received from the Red Sox faithful, even though he wore the opposing team's uniform.
