Giants Name Daniel Jones Starting QB as Eli Manning Era Comes to an End
It's a move Giants fans have been calling for ever since the NFL Draft in April. With New York falling to 0-2 on the season and the offense looking weaker than ever, it was time for a change to be made at quarterback.
Though head coach Pat Shurmur was all in on Eli Manning, things didn't work out and he put off the inevitable long enough. That's right, NY fans, Daniel Jones is your new starting signal caller.
It's about damn time, said a collective group of New Yorkers huddled around a Hot Dog cart on 34th St.
Manning is an icon in NY and New Jersey, but plain and simple, his time was up. Despite helping this team win two Super Bowls in his prime, Manning's play has deteriorated in recent years, which is why the Giants used the No. 6 pick on Jones this past spring.
The former Duke Blue Devil is known for his cannon of an arm, and he'll now have the opportunity to showcase to the fanbase and the rest of the NFC East what he can do in a pressure situation.
And well, the pressure doesn't get any higher than this: he's taking over the reigns for a team legend, with the nasty New York media ready to pounce on him at any sign of trouble. Let's see how No. 8 handles everything with the bright lights finally on him.
