Kyle Lauletta's time as a New York Giant has reportedly come to a close.

The Giants are reportedly cutting the fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft despite his strong performance in the team's final preseason game against the Patriots.

The news shouldn't be that shocking, especially after New York drafted fellow quarterback Daniel Jones sixth overall in April.

With Eli Manning as the starting quarterback and Jones as the backup, Lauletta was competing with Alex Tanney for the third-string position.

It is no secret that the Giants seem to love the veteran Tanney while Lauletta disappointed the team on and off the field last season. The former Richmond quarterback was arrested in October for a traffic violation and was awful in the two games he appeared in.

Lauletta started the summer slow thanks to offseason knee surgery. However, he picked up steam late in the preseason and was beginning to play well.

The 24-year-old signal caller completed 28 of 50 pass attempts in three games this preseason with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
