Giants Sending Scout to Watch Yankees Single-A Team Indicates Madison Bumgarner Trade Could Happen
By Michael Luciano

Even though the San Francisco Giants have been the hottest team in baseball over the last month or so, Farhan Zaidi could still be in the mood to start selling, with ace Madison Bumgarner topping the list of potential trade pieces.
The New York Yankees, long having needed a starting pitcher, could be in the market for Bumgarner's services. The Giants are poking around the lower levels of the Yankees' farm system, having reportedly sent a scout to watch their Single-A team in Tampa.

Two of the Yankees' top five prospects, outfielder Estevan Florial and starter Clarke Schmidt, are currently on Tampa's active roster.
One of those two would need to be included in a trade that brings Bumgarner to New York. With a 3.66 ERA this season, Bumgarner remains just as difficult to square up as he ever was. On top of that, his postseason success is unmatched across all of baseball for a starting pitcher. You think the Yankees would be better served starting him over JA Happ when the chips are down?

If the Giants decide decide to sell and make Bumgarner available, the Yankees should be running to the window with a package of prospects.
