Gilbert Arenas Shares Surprisingly Reasonable and Nuanced Take on Kevin Durant-Kendrick Perkins Feud
By Brendan Balsamo
By now, any sports fan has for sure heard of the beef between ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins and Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant. After Perkins called Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook the best player to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Durant took exception and went after Perkins for his take, which prompted Perkins to criticize Durant's decision to join the Golden State Warriors.
Gilbert Arenas, a former NBA player that played for the Warriors, Wizards, Magic, and Grizzlies, had his own take on Durant's decision.
Citing Durant's lack of NBA Finals accolades as a good reason to move, Arenas defended Durant's choice to jump ship from the Thunder, as he believed OKC was headed backwards after blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Warriors in 2016. He agreed that the only titles Durant had yet to achieve were NBA champion and NBA Finals MVP.
Durant's move has been a contentious topic since he made it in July of 2016, and many fans still see his decision to leave the Thunder for a perennial championship contender in the Warriors as a weak move. Arenas provided a different take, however, that could possibly change the way many people feel about what he did.
