Aaron Boone Confirms Gio Urshela Will Be Yankees' Starting 3B in 2020

Whatever doubt there was about who will start the year at third base in the Bronx can now be put to rest.
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that 2019 breakout star Gio Urshela will be the starter at the hot corner for the upcoming campaign, putting to rest any loose talk to the contrary.
There were plenty of rumors floating throughout the offseason that the Yankees were in the market for a third baseman potentially via trade, but they're rightly feeling content with what they've got.
This team has every reason to be confident in Urshela heading into the 2020 season. His hard-hit ball rate skyrocketed to a career-high 40.6% with the Yankees last year, and it helped him produce a fantastic season. He finished 2019 with 21 home runs and .889 OPS, both of which were far and away the best single-season marks of his four-season career.
It would have been hard for them to improve at that position anyway. Though Miguel Andujar could technically have challenged him for the starting job, there are far too many questions surrounding his health and defense for this to be a true position battle.
Yankees fans should be pumped for this news, though. Urshela is in line for another fantastic season now that he's going to start the season with a secure spot in the lineup.
