Gleyber Torres Leaves Yankees-Red Sox in 8th Inning Under Mysterious Circumstances
By Adam Weinrib

As if the New York Yankees' injury woes could somehow grow even further, Gleyber Torres got everyone talking on Sunday Night Baseball.
In the very first inning of Sunday's game (following Torres playing both halves of a doubleheader on Saturday), the All-Star infielder pulled up slightly lame at first base while hustling out a grounder (very slightly), which set the theorizing in motion.

Several innings later (and well after he drew a pivotal walk in the team's third-inning rally), Torres quietly departed on defense, giving way to DJ LeMahieu, who was gimpy earlier in the week as well, and likewise played both doubleheader halves.
DJ LeMahieu is now in at second base, where Gleyber Torres was playing until now.

We would say that Torres didn't display anything more severe than mild discomfort throughout this one, but Yankee fans can ill afford to watch another slugging superstar go down in upsetting fashion.
And did we remember to mention that Gio Urshela drilled two foul balls of his own legs earlier in this one? He finally gave way in the ninth as well, amid several defensive changes.
Yankees infield currently:

-Gio Urshela (banging up his legs on foul balls)
-Didi Gregorius (finger strain)
-DJ LeMahieu (groin strain, played both games of the Doubleheader yesterday)
-Mike Ford
The Yankees are trying to continue pounding that "Next Man Up" mentality, but at some point, it simply has to drone on you.
