Gleyber Torres Posts Emotional Message for Miguel Andujar After Surgery Decision
By Parker White
New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres had a big day at the plate yesterday in the doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles, totaling three homers in the two wins.
Sadly, his close friend and teammate Miguel Andujar announced that he'll have season-ending shoulder surgery that'll keep him out for the remainder of the 2019 season.
It was a bittersweet day for Torres, but he took to Twitter to wish his on-field brother the best for his upcoming procedure.
“It’s not that easy when he’s on recovery,” Torres said via The Athletic. “But patience is the most important, and I think a strong mentality is important. It’s not that easy, but I think it’s part of the life. Just be ready for the next season.”
If anyone knows about being a young player who misses an entire season because of surgery, it's Torres. Back in 2017, he missed extensive time after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
This won't be an easy comeback for Andujar, but knowing that he has a teammate like Gleyber in his corner has to make him feel good.
