In the midst of a severe down period in the NHL offseason, the Golden Knights and Devils were actually able to get a deal done. The Knights traded 27-year-old Russian forward Nikita Gusev to the Devils earlier on Tuesday, further helping along New Jersey's renaissance.

In exchange, Vegas was actually able to get a significant return in the form of future draft picks.

Now headed to New Jersey, Gusev will finally get his shot to impact an NHL roster. After the deal was done, the Devils decided to ink the Russian to a pretty significant contract, though not one that will tie up an overbearing amount of their cap.

Gusev appears to be a star in the making (or, rather, he's already a star in his home country). In his past three seasons with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, Gusev has posted 71, 62 and finally 82 points. As a left winger, Gusev will easily make an immediate scoring impact on this Devils roster.

Gusev still has a lot to prove, but at the end of the day this is a solid deal for both teams. The Knights get some rebuilding capital, and the Devils take a chance on another potentially electric scorer to fall in line with Taylor Hall, PK Subban, and Jack Hughes. What an offseason.
