Golden Tate Trolls Packers Fans With Tweet About 'Fail Mary' During His Time With Seahawks
By Michael Luciano
It took almost a decade after Al Harris' pick-six of Matt Hasselbeck in the playoffs, but the Seattle Seahawks finally got revenge against the Green Bay Packers. In what became the final game of the infamous "replacement refs" era during their strike, the Seahawks pulled out a win on Monday Night Football in 2012 after Seattle receiver Golden Tate and Green Bay defensive back MD Jennings simultaneously caught a pass in the end zone. After confusion over the initial ruling and a missed offensive pass interference on Tate, the Seahawks were awarded the score and a 14-12 win.
Tate, now with the New York Giants, once again riled up Packers fans after hearing the game will be broadcast on ESPN.
Despite Tate's bloviation, he knows in his heart of hearts that this touchdown should not have counted.
The two funniest parts of this big stain on the 2012 season are the fact that two separate judges close to the play had two different rulings. Not to mention, the officials made the Packers come out of the locker room and line up on the field for a mandatory conversion attempt.
What a mess all around.
This game helped end the replacement refs, but Packers fans will still foam at the mouth whenever this Monday Night contest is mentioned.
