Some news has just materialized in San Antonio that is bound to make every basketball fan out there cringe.

Gordon Hayward, who was finally starting to look like the player he was before suffering that horrifying leg injury back on opening night in 2017, has suffered a fractured hand during the Boston Celtics game vs the Spurs on Saturday night.

Fractured Hand Recovery Time

The good news for Hayward is that fractured hands don't normally come with long recovery timetables, as the expected timeframe generally lies within one and two months.

Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Rajon Rondo have all suffered a similar injury in their careers and all of them recovered rather quickly. Green missed less than four weeks; Leonard missed around 35 days; and Rondo, who opted for surgery, was forced to miss the entirety of training camp (3-4 weeks).

Based on that evidence, it's plausible to assume that Hayward could return sometime in mid-December, depending on the injury's severity, of course.

The timing, however, couldn't be worse for Hayward, who was scorching hot to begin the new campaign. Through seven games, the Butler product is averaging 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 56.4% from the floor, and 44.4% from three.

Simply put, he was Brad Stevens' best player in the early stages, and we hope that he can return to a similar form once he overcomes this hand injury.
