Graphic of Bears Quarterbacks Since 2006 is Incredibly Depressing
By Chris Pyo
Quick! 10 points to the first Chicago Bears fan who can name every starting Bears quarterback since 2006! If you can, you must be a real diehard fan for sticking with the Bears in their years of futility since their 2006 Super Bowl appearance.
During the Bears 17-16 loss against the Chargers, which of course featured a last-second missed field goal by a Bears kicker, a graphic of all the faces the Bears have had under center since Phillip Rivers entered the league was displayed, and it's pretty depressing stuff.
In actuality, that graphic discounts the tiny amount of stability the Bears franchise had under Jay Cutler for a period of years, if you can consider Cutler's time at Soldier Field a success even with how much turnover there's been at the quarterback position for the Bears.
That list of past Bears quarterbacks screams mediocrity, with guys like Josh McCown and Jason Campbell somehow having found their way into making a couple of starts for the Bears.
People might even miss the presence of Philip Rivers on that graphic as a representative of the quarterbacks who have started games for the Chargers since 2006. He remains one of the true-and-tried definitions of a stable quarterback for an NFL franchise.
Meanwhile, the Bears are hoping that Mitchell Trubisky somehow steps up and elevates his game to give the Bears their first franchise quarterback since, well, either Jay Cutler or Jim McMahon. Judging on his play thus far in the 2019 NFL season, they may need to wait even longer.
