Packers President Mark Murphy Teases Future NFL Draft in Green Bay After 2022 Rumors Shot Down
By Nick Porr
The 2020 NFL Draft was held online, but the league is already preparing its future venues to return to an in-person draft in the years to come. And after grabbing headlines with their draft choices this April, the Green Bay Packers are making moves to stay in the spotlight for years to come.
The NFL, barring any unforseen circumstances, has set the host cities for the next three drafts. The 2021 draft will be in Cleveland, the 2022 draft will be in Las Vegas, and 2023 draft will be in Kansas City. Green Bay Packers President Mark Murphy has come out and said that he would like Green Bay to be next on the list, and the organization is pursuing it.
Green Bay has never hosted the NFL Draft before, although it was held across the state in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1940.
Hosting the draft would be a great opportunity to create a truly unique experience in an iconic city that boasts a football team that has zero competition for attention.
As a rumored divide grows between the team's executives and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers thanks to the selection of QB Jordan Love in the first round, the Packers' selections in the coming years may be met with extra scrutiny. With that in mind, nothing could be better to increase the excitement and fan momentum than hosting the NFL's premier offseason event four years from now.
