Packers Receivers Simply Aren't Dropping the Ball This Season
By Chris Russo
The Green Bay Packers entered this year with a new head coach and a stern desire to get Aaron Rodgers back to full dominance. In the course of this effort, their receiving corps has not let them down.
In fact, the Packers have the lowest rate of dropped passes in the NFL to date this season.
Even with Davante Adams missing four of the Pack's' first 10 games, Green Bay receivers have managed to distance themselves from the rest of the league in terms of sure-handedness. Aaron Rodgers is among the best quarterbacks of all time, but even the best QB-wide receiver marriages falter at times. With Green Bay only committing eight drops in 10 games, that time has not come yet.
Despite his injury, Adams still leads the team with 537 receiving yards in just six games. Marques Valdez-Scantling is second with 420 yards, though the number three receiver is actually a running back. Aaron Jones has 354 receiving yards in addition to his team-leading 589 rushing yards.
The Packers have also had some unsung heroes working in their favor. In their albeit controversial victory over the Detroit Lions, Allen Lazard stepped in for the injured Adams and led the team with 65 receiving yards and a touchdown.
All told, the Green Bay receiving corps has helped them to an 8-2 record by minimizing mistakeas and executing the game plan. Notably, the same cannot be said for last year's NFC North champs, the rival Chicago Bears.
