3 Bold Predictions for the Packers in 2020 NFL Draft
By Michael Luciano
The Green Bay Packers have seen the rest of the favorites in the NFC add some major reinforcements, which means that Matt LaFleur and Co. need to hit a few home runs in the 2020 NFL Draft in order to restock at key positions. With holes at wide receiver, tight end, and the offensive line, Green Bay should spend the next few days getting help for Aaron Rodgers. They could be a bit on the cavalier end of things this year, however, as fans should expect anything and everything from GM Brian Gutekunst over the next few days, starting with these three prognostications.

3. They Don't Pick A Defensive Player On Day 1 or 2
The Packers appeared to have found a gem in Darnell Savage, and they are counting on 2019's No. 12 overall pick, Rashan Gary, to handle an expanded role in 2020. The free agent acquisitions, like safety Adrian Amos and pass rushers Preston and Za'Darius Smith, all proved to be worth their new deals. As much as Mike Pettine would love to help mentor the next great Packer lineman, getting Rodgers help on offense should be the main priority.
2. No. 62 Overall Is Used To Pick A Tight End
The lack of one standout tight end in this draft class means that if the Packers want to add competition for Jace Sternberger and/or replace Jimmy Graham, they can add a quality tight end on Day 2 of the draft. Players like Dayton's Adam Trautman, Purdue's Brycen Hopkins, or Notre Dame's Cole Kmet could easily start over Sternberger on Day 1 while giving Rodgers a vertical field-stretcher that can be more reliable in the passing game than the fading Graham was last year.
1. Green Bay Trades Up For Henry Ruggs III
Everyone and their grandmother can figure out that the Packers will pick a wide receiver at some point in this draft. That doesn't mean the Packers will (or should) wait until pick No. 30 and take whomever they fancy the most at that point, however. A speed demon like Alabama's Henry Ruggs III could be that one huge jigsaw piece that transforms their passing game, which could prompt Green Bay to part with a boatload of picks to move up into the top half of the first round and nab their man.
