Packers Taking Physical Freak Chase Claypool in First Round Would Be Perfect Fit for Aaron Rodgers
With the 2020 NFL Draft coming at the end of the month, the growing expectation is the Green Bay Packers will be taking a standout wide receiver in the first round with the No. 30 overall pick. But, which speedster should they go with?
While the Packers have been linked with studs like Justin Jefferson and Tee Higgins, general manager Brian Gutekunst and Co. need to take a serious look at a very special Notre Dame star: Chase Claypool.
There's no denying Aaron Rodgers and the GB offense need another playmaker in the wide receiver room. How about adding a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder who is coming off a monster year for the Fighting Irish? In 2019, Claypool hauled in 66 balls for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns, and is a serious problem due to his combination of physicality and athleticism.
Imagine this kid lining up opposite of Davante Adams. With his formidable frame and outstanding speed for his size, Claypool would be a tremendous complement to the Packer attack. In the red zone, AR12 could have a whole lot of fun throwing the ball up for the big-bodied receiver to go up and fight for it.
Most NFL mock drafts have Claypool as a second-rounder, but if he's there at No. 30, the Packers would be making a wise choice to swoop in for this guy before someone else does.
