VIDEO: Gronk Gets WWE 24/7 Belt Taken in Surprise Attack in His Own Backyard
By Michael Luciano
Rob Gronkowski was only signed to WWE for a few months, but he already set a pretty noteworthy record, as the lack of wrestling due to the coronavirus pandemic made Gronk the longest-reigning 24/7 champ in WWE history. However, now that Gronkowski returned to football and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, someone needed to take the belt away from him. Enter R-Truth, who attacked Gronk in his own backyard to claim the 24/7 belt.
Gronkowski's sudden retirement from football before the age of 30 was surprising, but the blow was lessened when one took a look at all the entertainment and business ventures the future Hall of Fame tight end had on his plate.
Ultimately, the allure of playing alongside Tom Brady with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was too good to pass up, and he decided to put his wrestling career on pause to link up with TB12 and Bruce Arians on a stacked Bucs offense.
Gronk's WWE tenure was like a flash of light. As quickly as it turned on, it turned off just as fast. However, it's impossible to deny that Gronk was everything WWE could have hoped for for he extremely brief tenure.
