Guard Alex Caruso Re-Signs With Lakers
By Jerry Trotta
After Kawhi Leonard surprisingly spurned both the Raptors and Lakers in favor of a certain crosstown LA rival, general manager Rob Pelinka has responded by subsequently filling out the rest of the Purple and Gold's roster in a hurry.
Within the last 24 hours, Los Angeles has managed to sign DeMarcus Cousins and Danny Green -- arguably the two best remaining free agents at the time -- and re-sign Rajon Rondo, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and JaVale McGee to team-friendly deals.
Well, we can now add Alex Caruso into the re-signing mix, as Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the 25-year-old point guard has agreed to a two-year, $5.5 million contract to remain in LA.
It came as one of the most surprising storylines of the Lakers' lost 2018-19 season, but Caruso was a genuine spark off Luke Walton's bench in the final month of the season.
The Texas A&M product averaged 9.1 points and 3.2 assists in just 20 minutes of game time for the Lakers across his 25 appearances.
Get ready, Staples Center. Your fan-favorite cinderella story from last year is back and ready to once again prove that he is deserving of significant minutes as the Lake Show's second-string point gawd.
