Guz Malzahn Said New Auburn OC Chad Morris Will Call Plays in 2020
By Will Coleman

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has often toggled back-and-forth between calling offensive plays and trusting that responsibility to his offensive coordinator. Malzahn may have been enjoying getting to call plays this past season, but coaching changes within the program will see him relinquish the duties once more.
Just over a month after the hiring of Chad Morris as the Tigers' offensive coordinator, Malzahn revealed the former SMU and Arkansas head coach will be calling plays for the Tigers next season.
Auburn HC Gus Malzahn just said here in Mobile that new OC Chad Morris will have full control of the offense in 2020 and will call plays.

It's never been a matter of trust for Malzahn, but comfort rather. When it comes to his new offensive coordinator, he doesn't have to worry about either.
Morris, a longtime friend of Malzahn, heads to Auburn with plenty of offensive coaching experience under his belt. Perhaps his most significant coaching job came at Clemson from 2011 to 2014. As offensive coordinator, Morris helped turn around the Tigers' scoring production with the likes of DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins.
Malzahn doesn't have to worry about Morris because he's a proven play-caller, which is part of the reason why he was hired.

Auburn has the pieces in place to make an outside run at next season's College Football Playoff, it'll just be a matter of how well Malzahn and Morris mix together in offensive game-planing.
