Hal Steinbrenner is Already Setting Yankee Fans up for Disappointment by Talking up Current Rotation

Heading into the offseason, one glaring part of the New York Yankees roster that needs to be addressed is their starting rotation, leading to many people hoping and wishing for a potential franchise-changing splurge on Gerrit Cole.

Anddddd...cue the company line.

Yankees principal owner Hal Steinbrenner doesn't seem to see it that way, as he stated on Friday they already have "a very good rotation," making every built-in justification for a lack of spending that Yankee fans were already conditioned to expect.

It's the first of November, and Steinbrenner basically said the team won't be in the market for a top-of-the-rotation starter. If you're a Yankee fan, check that off the wants and needs list.

If you believe him.

You can understand why he'd be excited about the rotation going into 2020 with a healthy Luis Severino and even Jordan Montgomery to go along with James Paxton and Masahiro Tanaka, but is he sure all of them will hold up and be healthy for a full season? He simply can't be.

All of them have an injury history, and when you look at New York's depth, is he cool with J.A. Happ, Domingo German (facing suspension, should be cut) and rookie Deivi Garcia picking up the slack if one of them goes down?

Plus, there's the sad reality that all these guys are pretty good! None of them are as good as Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Gerrit Cole, Chris Sale, or Stephen Strasburg.

If you're a Yankee fan, at least you know what to expect this winter, even if it's depressing and disappointing.
