Ed Reed's playing days are in the past, but he's not done with football entirely. Reed is reportedly set to return to his former stomping grounds at Miami in a new role.

According to Ian Rapoport, Reed is set to become the new Chief of Staff for the Miami Hurricanes.

Reed will work closely with head coach Manny Diaz, acting as an advisor in areas such as strategic planning, player development, quality control and more.

The 41-year-old spent four seasons with the Hurricanes from 1998-2001. During his tenure with the program, he recorded 21 interceptions, returning four for touchdowns. He went on to get drafted by the Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft, where he would spend 11 seasons.

Reed was a two-time All-American during his stay in South Beach, and won the Big East Defensive Player of the Year award in 2001.

Nearly two decades after he departed the program, Reed will be returning to his alma mater, and fans should be excited and eager to welcome him back with open arms. Let's hope he can help bring the Canes back to the glory days.
