This Heat-Grizzlies Trade for Andre Iguodala Could Actually Work
The Miami Heat are surprisingly tied for fourth in the Eastern Conference with a real chance to make a splash in the NBA playoffs. At the same time, the Memphis Grizzlies have the eighth seed in the Western Conference, a big jump from where analysts had them placed before the season started.
The two teams could help each other surprise even more pundits with a beneficial trade for both sides.
There are two main options that could work for both sides.
The first option is trading Iguodala for Goran Dragic. Dragic, a veteran point guard, has an expiring contract that will come off the books for the Grizzlies, money they could spend on a star in free agency. Furthermore, Dragic's experience and skillful play could be a useful asset either on the bench or as a starter alongside franchise PG Ja Morant. Lastly, his veteran presence could be helpful to a young team like the Grizz.
Another option would dealing Iguodala for Meyers Leonard. A similar type of player to second-year star Jaren Jackson, Leonard would give Jackson some much needed advice on how to become a better player in this league. Plus, with his expiring contract, Leonard will be gone after the season, giving the team space to extend one of their young players.
Either one of these trades could help both teams in their playoff push.
