In news that was guaranteed to occur before the season was complete, the Miami Heat have finally announced when exactly they are going to retire Dwyane Wade's jersey.

The ceremony will now be targeted for Feb. 22 when the Heat take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was never a matter of if they were going to retire the iconic No. 3, but when.

The Heat are planning to have a more reserved celebration of Wade at the game, with the big celebration happening the night before, Feb. 21, on Miami's off day.

Wade is going to be the fifth Heat player to have his jersey retired, joining Big Three teammate Chris Bosh, as well as Tim Hardaway, Alonzo Mourning, and Shaquille O'Neal.

The 22nd just so happens to be on one of the Los Angeles Lakers' off days, as well, so LeBron James can technically fly out to see Wade's jersey retired in South Beach.

There's no doubting it: Wade's jersey retirement will cement his status as the greatest and most iconic player in the history of the Miami Heat.

He spent 15 out of his 17 seasons in Miami after being taken by the Heat with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2003 draft.

What a way to end an historic career.
