VIDEO: Houston's DeJon Jarreau Bizarrely Ejected for Biting Cincinnati Player's Leg
By Jerry Trotta
It would appear that the Houston men's basketball team doesn't handle adversity all that well. After watching a 12-point lead over Cincinnati disappear in fewer than five minutes, the Cougars also lost their top facilitator in the most bizarre of fashions. Junior guard DeJon Jarreau was ejected from Saturday's contest after referees determined that he bit (yes, bit) the leg of Bearcats backcourt standout Keith Williams. Slow-motion replays showed Jarreau diving for a loose ball... when his mouth appeared to chomp at Williams' leg.
Of course, that footage alone doesn't confirm that Jarreau actually bit Williams, but officials claimed to have found evidence of a bite and ejected him from the game. To our understanding, could only come in the form of a bite mark on Williams' leg, no?
Perhaps it remains an actual matter of dispute.
Who knows, but the imbecility behind Jarreau's alleged antics -- if true, of course -- are simply indefensible. The Bearcats did, however, manage to get the last laugh, pulling off a 64-62 upset of the No. 21-ranked Cougars in a sweet dose of poetic justice.
