How the Packers Unknowingly Played a Role in Randall Cobb Joining Texans

Now is not the best of times to be a Houston Texans fan. Head coach/general manager Bill O'Brien traded star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for essentially a bag of footballs. To replace Hopkins' production, O'Brien went across the state to sign ex-Dallas Cowboy Randall Cobb.

After putting pen to paper, Cobb was asked what exactly brought him to Houston. And no, it didn't have to do with the money given to him. Rather, it was a similar role that he had with the Green Bay Packers.

It's interesting that Cobb jumped at the opportunity to join Houston to relive his days in Green Bay. Ironically, the veteran wideout opted against re-signing with the Cowboys, whom have Mike McCarthy, Cobb's former head coach with the Packers, as their sideline boss.

But let's be real here. Cobb was in line to be the third receiver on the depth chart in Dallas behind Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. In Houston, he automatically slots in as the team's No. 2 pass catcher, and can potentially move up to the top, considering Will Fuller's inability to stay healthy for a full season.

Not to mention, Cobb has Deshaun Watson throwing him passes, which he also points out as a reason to join the Texans.

Cobb seems genuinely excited to join the Texans, and the fan base should take it easy on him and give him a warm welcome. It's not his fault that Hopkins got traded. Direct the hate towards BOB.
