VIDEO: Red-Hot Howie Kendrick Doubles Nationals' Lead in NLCS Game 1 With Clutch Single
By Sam Dunn
The St. Louis Cardinals have fought valiantly in Game 1 of the NLCS against the Washington Nationals despite their bats looking fast asleep. Down just a run, they turned to their bullpen to keep things close-- and would have gotten out of the seventh inning but for the clutch assassin known as Howie Kendrick.
The man who clubbed a grand slam against the Dodgers in the Division Series is at it again. He can seemingly do now wrong, and managed to double the Nats' lead in support of the brilliant Anibal Sanchez, who has yet to allow a single hit through six frames.
If Washington can lock down this W on the road, it's truly a massive achievement in this young series.
