4 Teams Remain Interested in Hyun-Jin Ryu With Expectation He'll Surpass Madison Bumgarner Deal

Hyun-Jin Ryu remains one of the best pitchers available in this year's fast-moving free agent market.
Ken Rosenthal has now reported that at least four teams stand out as suitors for the southpaw.

$80 million may be a steep price, but that is what happens when free agents play the market well.
The Angels have a legendary lineup. Now they need to add pitching. The team whiffed on Madison Bumgarner and can pitch Ryu on staying close to his former home.
So does Madison Bumgarner's signing with the rival #DBacks mean the #Dodgers are now going to overpay to bring back Hyun-Jin Ryu? #BorasStrikesAgain

The Blue Jays, on the other hand, should want to win while the young stars remain in town. Getting Ryu for four years would allow that to happen during his contract tenure. The White Sox are very much in the same boat, but perhaps a few years ahead of schedule than Toronto, especially with their moves this offseason, including signing Yasmani Grandal.
The Twins, meanwhile, can't sit back and let the Indians or the upstart Sox take the division crown. Snagging Ryu would give Minnesota a nice duo atop the rotation with Jose Berrios. No price should be too high for a team trying to win a playoff series for the first time since 2002.
The market for Ryu is heating up, as expected for a man who sported a 2.32 ERA last season.
