ICE Conducted 'Raids' for Unlicensed NFL Apparel at Raiders vs Broncos Game
By Jerry Trotta
On Monday, ICE -- United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- took their talents, for lack of a better term, to the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum ahead of the Raiders' Monday Night Football fixture against the Denver Broncos.
Per the San Francisco Chronicle, ICE was there to crack down on unlicensed, unauthorized NFL apparel, which included hats, bandanas, jerseys and t-shirts. During the "raid," agents reportedly seized about $11,000 worth of illegitimate merchandise.
In case you were wondering, ICE did not act on their own authority. The operation was done in partnership with undisclosed NFL brand security reps, per the Chronicle, as well as local and state law enforcement.
Tatum King, the agent in charge of the Homeland Security Investigations group in the San Francisco Bay area, claimed that roughly 400 sets of products were snatched, though no criminal arrests were made. However, the aforementioned brand representatives issued a profusion of warnings and reserve the right to pursue further action.
Let this serve as a warning to all the unlicensed vendors looking to make a few bucks at a game. The NFL is serious about shutting every last bit of this down.
