Idiot Warriors Fans Fell for the Worst Fake Woj Account Out There
By Scott Rogust
When it comes to the opening of free agency in any professional sports league, it's always important to follow the insiders and journalists who break the news. However, in the social media era, there are fake accounts of said reporters that send out bogus "news" reports.
During NBA free agency, the most popular account to follow is ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who reports every significant transaction in the league. One Twitter account actually changed its name and avatar to Wojnarowski, "reporting" that the Golden State Warriors acquired Kawhi Leonard from the Toronto Raptors.
Here's the thing...that didn't happen. And some unfortunate Warriors fans actually fell for it.
"We run this league."
"Bada bing bada boom!"
Leonard is taking his time and keeping things quiet when it comes to his eventual decision between the Raptors, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers. NBA fans are getting testy, and troll social media accounts are taking advantage.
Also, the Warriors can't trade D'Angelo Russell until Dec. 15, so read a book.
With free agency being an important time for fans and media alike, we're going to give these duped Warriors fans some advice. Firstly, follow Wojnarowski's official Twitter account (with the bright blue checkmark). Then, set notifications for all of his tweets. That's all it takes.
You're welcome.
