Indians and Dodgers Reportedly Discussing Francisco Lindor Trade
By Jerry Trotta
Now that some of MLB's biggest free agents have found new homes, the only thing missing from this offseason to really get the ball rolling is a blockbuster trade.
Well, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cleveland Indians are reportedly holding discussions that could answer those wishes.
Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, both clubs are discussing a trade that would send Francisco Lindor to La La Land.
This report contradicts earlier buzz which indicated that the Indians weren't looking to deal their All-Star shortstop this offseason, but talks appear to be making strides at the Winter Meetings this week.
Cleveland is reportedly looking for a return package that would include two of the Dodgers' top prospects -- infielder Gavin Lux and right-hander Dustin May.
Whether Los Angeles is willing to cough them up, remains to be seen at this stage, but they have previously stated their intentions on pursuing a trade for Lindor this winter.
Lindor's future in The Land is anything but clear as the Indians likely won't be able to match the offers of other clubs once he hits the open market after the 2021 season. Trading him for future assets remains the best course of direction for the franchise.
A deal is obviously highly-dependent on the Dodgers compliance to part ways with some of their lauded young guns, but the interest from both parties exists.
