Indians Jokingly Address Getting Roasted for Mets' 'Fringe Playoff' Tweet in Latest Lineup Release
By Michael Luciano

It looks like the Cleveland Indians have finally learned their lesson.
Their famously snarky Twitter account caught the brunt of some brutal karma when they were swept on the road by the New York Mets, who the Indians dubbed a "fringe" playoff team. Ahead of their series against the Kansas City Royals, who are certainly not a playoff team, the Indians Twitter account was much more reserved when announcing the lineups.
Well, what have we learned, boys and girls?

Don't use the word "fringe" when trying to call a good team a playoff contender.

Not all Indians fans were pleased with this sudden about face, as the Mets are, by definition, a team on the fringe of a playoff spot, and the Indians were merely calling a spade a spade.
Mets fans crazy sensitive

Think they're still a bit touchy after their last series, which featured chokes and walk-offs?
Here come the New York fringes fans... I mean the New York Mets fans

It's a little odd for the mouthy Indians account to voluntarily muzzle itself like this. Not only do we lose their trademark wisecracking, but any chance of some increasingly rare NL East-AL Central beef has been emphatically squashed.
