Indians Need to Hurry Up and Make Nice With Francisco Lindor

The Cleveland Indians appeared to be on the verge of blowing the whole team up this offseason, as they traded Corey Kluber to the Rangers and dangled Francisco Lindor in trade talks for basically the entire winter.

They failed to find a fish that would bite on the Lindor bait, and they run the risk of further annoying their superstar, who claims the organization still hasn't offered "the right thing" in contract talks.

It seems, however, that he'd like to stay, a fact the Tribe should truly take advantage of.

Lindor was his usual, excellent self last year. Picking up another Gold Glove, the Puerto Rican star recorded his third consecutive season with 40 doubles and 30 home runs. Throw in 22 stolen bases and his fourth All-Star appearance, and Lindor deserves to be paid like an elite infielder.

Lindor has expressed a desire to stay in Cleveland, so all the Indians need to do is apologize for putting his name in the rumor mill and work towards a contract extension.

The Indians didn't commit to a full-scale rebuild, which has left them and Lindor in an awkward position. The best course of action for the Indians at this moment is to try and mend fences with their All-Star cornerstone and try to find some optimism as they head into 2020 in a very winnable AL Central.
