Indians Sign Veteran Catcher Cameron Rupp
By Karl Rasmussen

The Cleveland Indians have been linked with Domingo Santana of late, though nothing has been made official. However, they managed to get some other business done in the mean time.
The Tribe have reportedly signed veteran catcher Cameron Rupp to a minor-league deal, with an invite to big league camp.

Rupp hasn't featured in the MLB since 2017, having last played as a member of the Phillies. He's spent the past two seasons in Triple-A, bouncing between various organizations.
In 2017, Rupp slashed .217/.299/.417 with 14 home runs and 34 RBI across 88 games. He has 39 career home runs across five big-league seasons.
The Indians have signed catcher Cameron Rupp to a Minor League deal with an invite to Major League Spring Training. He played for the Phillies from 2013-17, hitting .234 with a .705 OPS and spent the last two years in the Minors.

It's unlikely that Rupp features for the Indians in the near future, considering the team acquired Sandy Leon this offseason and already has Roberto Perez who had a breakout campaign in 2019. Still, the depth move could prove useful if either of the aforementioned backstops goes down with injury.
