Indians Lineup
Cleveland has been on a roll as of late thanks primarily to the scorching hot bat of Jose Ramirez. The 2018 MVP finalist is slashing .330/.349/.718 in 26 games since the All-Star break, slugging 9 home runs while raising his season OPS by almost 100 points during that span.
Mike Clevinger (6-2, 3.07 ERA) has been tabbed as the starter for the Indians. Since the start of July, he's posted a 1.69 ERA and 49 strikeouts in six starts. He's been a huge difference-maker for the team since his return from his lengthy IL stint, and he'll look to shut down a powerful Twins' lineup on Thursday evening.
Twins Lineup
If Minnesota wants to hold off the surging Indians, they'll have to rely on timeless veteran Nelson Cruz to spark the offense. Age hasn't slowed the 39-year-old slugger down this year. He's posted a 168 OPS+ and has 32 home runs to his name in his first season in a Twins uniform. He's hitting third, behind powerful leadoff hitter Max Kepler and star shortstop Jorge Polanco.
Kyle Gibson (11-4, 4.02 ERA) will start for the Twins. He'll look to give his team quality innings after starters Martin Perez and Jose Berrios allowed 16 runs to the Braves in just two games. A strong outing from Perez is exactly what the Twins need in order to maintain their dwindling division lead.
It's the first game of a pivotal series between divisional foes. It'll definitely be worth tuning in for.
