Iowa-Iowa State Week 3 Rivalry Battle Delayed Due to Lightning
By Karl Rasmussen

The Week 3 rivalry game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones managed to get underway on time, with Iowa jumping out to an early 3-0 lead. However, that's all the action fans will get for now.
The game has been delayed due to lightning in the surrounding area in Ames, Iowa.

The lightning delay will require at least a 30-minute break, though it could last longer, depending on how quickly the storm clears, and when the final strike within an eight-mile radius comes.
We are now under a lightning delay. Play will resume 30 minutes after last lightning strike within 8 miles of the area. #ProveIt

Lightning was detected within the boundaries of Jack Trice Stadium, which forced officials to break the action.
When play eventually resumes, there will be 7:18 remaining in the first quarter.
